DakshinaChitra- A Beautiful Journey Into South Indian Culture
Our college decided to visit Dakshinachitra for the first industrial visit, a cultural heritage museum I'd heard a lot about and wow, it turned out to be such a awesome experience. The way history was shown in the museum was really enchanting. As soon as I entered the museum I saw a lot of shops selling art, textiles etc, which were really fine to look at. Just near the entrance there was a park where visitors could play and take a break before diving deeper into the exhibits.
Artistry and Architecture
The Art and architecture in the museum were very exciting to look at. The paintings and sculptures throughout the place as well as the architecture of buildings were masterpieces.
Art that speaks
There was one exhibit called as the Varija Art Gallery which had some really interesting art pieces on display.
I really likes the 'Red Earth and Pouring Rain' art that was displayed near the entrance. I found the symmetrical and circular pattern really pretty.
There were other art from different genres hung on the walls of the gallery. Some of them were really fine pieces.
Shops
There were more shops inside the building which were selling textiles, small statues/sculptures, bamboo craft, decorative, pottery etc. I really wanted to buy some items but I couldn't afford them cause of their high price. I think the prices were justified thought because of how much time and effort goes into making these items. I would definitely buy something next time I visit again.
Reflection
By the time I left, I realized that Dakshinachitra isn't just a place you visit it's a place you feel. Every wall, every artwork, and every sculpture seems to have its own story to tell. It's where history and creativity meet..
If you ever find yourself in Chennai, definitely spend a few hours here. Look around the exhibits, sculptures around the place and the beautiful architecture. It's peaceful, colorful, and incredibly inspiring.
I had a lot of fun with my friends and classmates. I know that these memories will live for an eternity. I wish to create more memories like this.
